Recipe for Disaster mini-album, is an explosive mix of instrumental progressive rock and electronica. In Kozubenko’s music, the sinuous guitar passages get along with beats and synthesizers in the spirit of the band Space and Didier Marouani. The title of the release, “Recipe for Disaster,” is the author’s ruthless self-irony over situations in which any musician and creative person find themselves.

Despite his mastery of the instrument, Vitaly is not limited to a formal demonstration of guitar techniques. “The guitar is the central element in the album, but for me this record is not about the virtuoso playing. I like in music the effect that can be compared to meditation - a gradual immersion in music. When the sense of self I fades into the background, and you open the channel for some inner freedom and energy. Therefore, in my tracks, I primarily sought to achieve this effect.”

All 5 tracks of his debut EP “Recipe for Disaster” Vitaliy Kozubenko recorded and produced himself in 2019. And the cover artwork for the release was done by designer and collage maker Vadim Karasev, who also works with bands such as Atomic Simao and Junket.

Виталий Козубенко — это молодой украинский музыкант родом из Луганска. В 2013 году он принял участие в международном конкурсе гитаристов им. В. Молоткова «АпрельсКИЕВетви» и стал его финалистом, а в 2014-м переехал в Харьков. В декабре прошлого года вышел первый официальный сингл Виталия «No Rhyme» — легкая лиричная композиция с джазовым звучанием, которая попала в ротацию радиостанций Lounge FM и Old Fashioned Radio.
Его новая работа, мини-альбом «Recipe for Disaster» — это гремучая смесь инструментального прогрессив-рока и электроники. В музыке Козубенко извилистые гитарные пассажи уживаются с ломаными битами и синтезаторами в духе группы Space и Дидье Маруани. Название релиза «Recipe for Disaster» — это безжалостная самоирония автора над ситуациями, в которые попадает любой начинающий музыкант и творческий человек в целом.
Несмотря на мастерское владение инструментом, Виталий не ограничивается формальной демонстрацией техники. «Гитара — центральный элемент в альбоме, но для меня эта запись не про виртуозную игру как таковую. Я ценю в музыке эффект, который можно сравнить с медитацией — постепенное погружение в саму ткань музыки. Когда ощущение собственного Я отходит на второй план, и ты открываешь канал для некой внутренней свободы и энергии. Поэтому в своих треках я в первую очередь стремился достичь именно такого эффекта», — признается музыкант.
Все 5 треков своего дебютного EP «Recipe for Disaster» Виталий Козубенко записал и спродюсировал сам в 2019 году. А оформлением обложки релиза занимался дизайнер и коллажист Вадим Карасев, который также работает с такими группами как Atomic Simao и Junket.
